Hiring a software engineer in their late 40s

I recently saw this toot in Mastodon

and I had a good laugh with it. It’s trite, but many older workers in the software development world feel represented by it.

And it’s not that these people are extremely experienced, because this is not always the case, but the attitude of not giving a f*ck that adds value to them. Probably you would not find the term defined in any HR book, but it’s usually a mixture of keeping a level heading, thinking before talking, sticking to decisions without passively boycotting them and not getting into petty politics that adds value to these roles.

So yes, they add good value to any team and in any area… from software development to sales.
